How does the car torsion bar suspension work

Torsion bar suspension is the general term of all force transmission connecting devices between vehicle frame and axle or wheel.

The typical suspension structure of McPherson Torsion bar suspension is composed of elastic elements, guide mechanism and shock absorber, and some structures also have buffer blocks, lateral stabilizer bars, etc. Elastic elements also include leaf spring, air spring, coil spring and torsion bar spring.

The suspension of modern cars mostly adopts coil spring and torsion bar spring, and some advanced cars use air spring.

Torsion bar suspension is used to transmit the force and torsion between the wheel and the frame, buffer the impact force transmitted to the frame or body from uneven road surface, and attenuate the vibration caused thereby, so as to ensure that the vehicle can run smoothly.
